Kids Writing 4 Kids blog is for all those children out there who love to write and want to share their creations with other children. You can write in any genre and the topics that you write about are only limited by your imagination!
Hi there! Thanks so much for inviting on your blog. What a great idea to have a blog for young writers. When I was growing up we didn't have blogs – we didn't even have computers! Can you imagine that? Yep, that was the olden days, where I rode around in a horse and cart (no, not really – we had cars by then) and everything I wrote was by hand. Sometimes I still prefer to write my stories by hand. I always carry a notebook with me because you never know when a good idea is going to come to you. My notebooks are full of ideas: things I remember from my childhood, drawings, snippets of conversations I may have heard, even cuttings from newspapers and magazines that interest me. Sometimes I might even begin a story in my notebook, then when I feel it begin to take shape, I'll begin to type it out on my computer. A notebook is a great place to practice your writing. Because, like everything, if you want to be good at something, what do you have to do? Yep, that's right – practice! Imagine if you were a runner and you turned up on race day to run your 100 metre sprint without having done any practice. You wouldn't do your best run, would you? Well, writing is just the same. The more you practice in your notebook, the more likely it is that when you do finally sit down at the computer, the ideas will flow. The more you write, the better you get at writing. Good luck! And have fun.
Best wishes,

The Mystery Thief - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 1)
Howling wind could be heard the night Willow and Ginger escaped yet again. Quivering slightly, the two masked bunnies made their way back home nudging their recently stolen food along the ground. As the police car sirens died down, Ginger couldn't help saying "Great work bro, we really tricked the cops". "Shhhh!", Willow replied. "Can't you see that Mia has come to check on us? We've got no time to lose. Start digging!"
Dawn was breaking when Enaya came to feed the bunnies. "Wake up", Willow whispered kicking Ginger wide awake. "It's time to eat". Ginger started to complain "I can't eat. I admit it, I ate half the supplies we stole last night". "Fair enough", Willow sighed. "But still, get down here this minute!".
That afternoon, the boys planned their next robbery, pausing only to listen to last night's event on TV. Meanwhile, the police officers were studying a picture with alarm as they saw two small, blurry shapes. Zooming in they saw two bunnies.
That evening sunset colours filled the sky as two bunnies hooped to Woolworths hidden in the shadows. Little did they know who was hiding behind the doors....
"Gotcha!", yelled a mysterious voice and Willow and Ginger immediately fell into a deep sleep. Chatting awoke the two and to their horror they were behind glass. Their worst dream! "What? A madhouse?" gasped Ginger. "Exactly" began Willow "And I have a plan of escape".
Midnight was guarded by police. Willow and Ginger were smiling in their sleep and little did the cops know what was planned for tomorrow.

Breaking Out - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 2)
Mango colours filled Ginger's eyes the first morning at the zoo. Yawning slightly he thought deeply. Six minutes later Willow was munching grass while Ginger was explaining his thoughts. "So maybe we could karate chop through this glass?". Ginger finished imitating his freedom dance. "Ha, ha very funny" Willow replied. "Remember when Charlie took us to Mia's karate lesson?" Ginger answered, "Good point. Let's start planning and practicing straight away", Willow agreed.
It was the same bunnies that stared at the metal bars that night thinking about escape. "Are we there yet?" Ginger asked for the 100th time. "Yes", Willow shivered "Pretend to be asleep".
Two snoring bunnies slept in their cage dreaming of their escape. An ear-splitting noise awoke them. "Quiet!" the wide awake Willow said to his neighbour. "Thanks" Ginger interrupted and turning his attention to his brother explained that this was a good time to practice karate. The two immediately started practicing.
Whimpering the next day, Ginger limped towards Willow "Hig me paw og the rong" Ginger managed to say before starting to whimper again. "You what?" Willow cried, startled. "I hit my paw on the rock" burst out Ginger through clenched teeth. "But then you can't chop through the glass" Willow realised. "Don't worry, it's feeling better, but I can't do karate" whispered Ginger. "I'll try to think of something to help".
Thoughts awoke the slightly sore Ginger, thoughts that made his eyes shine. Waking the asleep Willow he told him with bright eyes, "Just a few days of practice and I will be able to chop through the glass like eating through celery". It took a minute or two before Willow understood and got Ginger to start practicing.
CRASH! Police were running everywhere but not in time for the smart bunnies who were out the gates and into the night in no time. The naughty bunnies were soon hopping down O'Hea Street and into their hutch. Huddled upstairs they heard Mia telling Heidi about two masks, "Oh, oh..." mouthed Willow and Ginger together "Here we go again!"

No Place to Go - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 3)
Lightening flashed and thunder shook the hutch as tears rolled down Willow and Ginger's cheeks knowing this was the last night in their hutch. "Goodbye" sobbed Willow as he left the hutch and squeezed through the fence calling Ginger to follow.
A constand dripping noise awoke the bunnies who were twitching in their sleep. "Willow" squealed Ginger "I want to go home, the mozzies are swarming". "The masks" reminded Willow as he scavenged for food "have been found". "But...." Ginger's voice trailed off as he frantically swatted the air with his paws, his arms alread aching. Willow looked up, "Run!", he shouted, dashing as fast as a bullet from the mozzies, Ginger hot on his tail. "Home!" Ginger wailed flopping to the floor of a cave. "We've nowhere to go" whined Willow and copied Ginger.
Faraway Enaya's brother, Alex, had stolen the masks and thrown them away. Mia and Enaya were soon proven to be worng about the masks and agreed it was a dream. The local newspaper had gone out and written an article about it. Luckily Willow managed to unearth the article and read about it. "Home we go!" cried Willow, reading the last line and bounded down the road.
"Home sweet home" sang Ginger and Willow joked "Lets started knitting new masks". The two laughed a lot that night when they were reunited with their home, unaware of the danger just around the corner.

A Narrow Escape - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 4)
Snoring was to be heard from a particular part of the house. "Ahhhcho!" sneezed Ginger and the startled Willow jumped in surprise from the sudden noise. "What a bad start to the day" Willow whined angrily, "I....." Ginger stopped. A pair of green eyes were gazing at him. "Eeek!" he squealed and buried himself in the hay, afraid to look at the green eyes. "Yowl" yowled the eyes and the creature's black fur gleamed in the moonlight. "The scientist next door's cat!" screamed Willow fleeing upstairs.
"We've got to do something" cried Willow deserately, pacing the hutch three days later. "What?" "There is only one answer" replied Ginger solemly. "We've got to run away". "If that's the only choice", sighed Willow "We will. Let's do it tonight".
Darkness was falling over the hutch as the new hole in the garden was almost completed. "Ow" Willow whispered. "Sorry" mumbled Ginger. "Look!" exclaimed Willow excitedly "A book on hypnotising". "Do you know what this means?" Cried Ginger. "We can hypnotise the cat". Two minutes went by with the bunnies practising and it took another two minutes to get the cat who was hunting for spiders. Soon enough there was a truly amazing sight. There was a flash of green and the rustling of leaves as the cat disappeared through a hole in the fence. "Hooray!", the brothers cried.
Songs drifted into the night led by two bunnies who were unaware of what tricks the mad scientist had up his sleeve and what trouble he would lead them into the next day.

Unusually Crazy - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 5)
Happy talking filled the neighourhood the same day as Willow and Ginger got the party invitation from Greg, a new bunny. "Finally another rabbit down the street", Willow exclaimed for what felt like the millionth time. "I'll just get the food". Tap, tap! The twins stopped at Greg's door and waited. Then a cold, high pitched laugh greeted them, making a drowsy feeling come over the pair.
The cold, stone floor made it very hard to sleep on. Around midnight all the bunnies that were trapped woke up and got a mighty surprise. "We're trapped!", the two twins squealed. They had no idea of the scientist's cunning plan set up for the following day.
Dawn broke through the prison-like windows and Willow and Ginger were the only ones who had figured out that there was a plan. SLAM! The door swung shut and a man, as white as a vampire, appeared at the door holding a small bottle of what looked like some sort of potion. He slid open the nearest cage and poured a few droplets onto the prisoner while singing
"Give me a chicken's intestine,
The hair of mean Frankenstein,
And a cute bunnies tail.
Now tell me young friend, is this potion going to fail?"
Nothing happened and the mad scientist let out a roar of rage and let the bunny go. "I'm going to find those talking rabbits no matter what and I'll prove I'm better than them!" And with that he did the same with the other bunnies while the brothers quivered. Four away, three away, two, one... Suddenly the scientist was in front of them. The twins didn't look up into his eyes in fear of what was to happen. Instead the twins closed their eyes tightly. "Arghh!", cried the mad scientist. Something about closing their eyes tightly forced him backwards! Tinkle! Tinkle! The man fell and dropped the bottle and then slipped on the contents. A puff of smoke made the scientist disappear from view. When the bunnies could see him again he looked dazed and confused. The scientist glanced around then hurridly opened up the cages with a key he had found in his pocket. He let the bunnies go. Before Ginger left, he sniffed the potion then hopped away.
Once the bunnies were home they did a lap of honour around the garden. Chatting as they closed the door of the hutch Ginger added "You know, I don't know why he wanted to make us young". Willow laughed "Good work bro, good work" as Ginger beamed.

My cat called Oscar
Meow! I heard my grey cat called Oscar calling for me. I was on my way to give Oscar some food. When I came, Oscar was sitting on his old, dirty mat that my dad got from the pet shop. The same shop as the one we got Oscar from.He was sitting directly in front of the TV watching a funny clown show. I walked back into my room then. Meow! I heard Oscar again so i ran back into the lounge room wondering what was wrong now. Then suddenly, Splash! Oscar had tipped the bottle of milk right off the table.I screeched. I was about to scream for Mum when I look at the floor. There was only one drip on the floor but the rest of the mild was pouring into Oscar's bowl. It was amazing! I froze like a statue. Oscar had now turned into a big, fat, circus cat. I laughed my head off!

Hippos
Splash! All the huge, ugly hippos scattered into the murky water in the lake. The mother lions were bounding to catch the aggressive hippos. The lions turned around to face the hippos again but it was too late. The lions turned when the strong hippos slipped into the warm water to join the playful, baby hippos. When the lions had left, the hippos popped up again and left the lake to eat their supper.

Fiji
The sun is setting in the sky,
And the birds are flying very high.
Palm trees over look the sea,
And fish are waving their fins at me.
Orange, pink and purples rise over blue,
And the sun will be gone very soon.
Feel the breeze over your face,
Oh Fiji. What a wonderful place!
