Hi there! Thanks so much for inviting on your blog. What a great idea to have a blog for young writers. When I was growing up we didn't have blogs – we didn't even have computers! Can you imagine that? Yep, that was the olden days, where I rode around in a horse and cart (no, not really – we had cars by then) and everything I wrote was by hand. Sometimes I still prefer to write my stories by hand. I always carry a notebook with me because you never know when a good idea is going to come to you. My notebooks are full of ideas: things I remember from my childhood, drawings, snippets of conversations I may have heard, even cuttings from newspapers and magazines that interest me. Sometimes I might even begin a story in my notebook, then when I feel it begin to take shape, I'll begin to type it out on my computer. A notebook is a great place to practice your writing. Because, like everything, if you want to be good at something, what do you have to do? Yep, that's right – practice! Imagine if you were a runner and you turned up on race day to run your 100 metre sprint without having done any practice. You wouldn't do your best run, would you? Well, writing is just the same. The more you practice in your notebook, the more likely it is that when you do finally sit down at the computer, the ideas will flow. The more you write, the better you get at writing. Good luck! And have fun.

Best wishes,

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Wash! the wind was soo strong and the wind blew the three billy goats away. The three billy goats were very hungry. And the three billy goats saw a long bridge ran across but there was no grass. Then they saw another bridge and the little billy goat saw a troll and the troll was mean, ugly, fat and he had a long nose and he is hairy.

The little billy goat gruff said “troll can I go over the bridge?” “No because I want to eat you” said the troll. “Please don’t eat me wait for my bigger brother he is much bigger than me and he will give you a bigger meal.” “Ok” said the troll. “I’ll let you go over”. After one hour medium billy goat came and said “can I go over the bridge?” “No because I want to eat you”. “Please don’t eat me wait for my bigger brother.” “oh well, go over the bridge.”

After two hours great billy goat came and charged at the troll and the troll ran for his life and the troll never came back and the three billy goats was very happy.

The three billy goats gruff

By Adam Moorhouse

One day there was three billy goats gruff a little billy goat gruff a middle size billy goat gruff and a great billy goat gruff. The three billy goats gruff needed food to stay alive but the three billy goats had to cross a brig.  A big bad troll with sharp teeth and I all so forgot the three billy goats wonted to see in the middle of the mountain.

All of a sudden an extremely hairy troll jumped up onto the bridge with a big bit of dead skin in his jaw. The little billy goat backed back the troll jumped at little billy goat and escaped with a few scratches. Magically the troll appeared in front of middle billy goat gruff. The troll dived at middle sized billy goat. He raced across to the fresh green grass. Middle sized billy goat threw grass in the air the troll made a humongous hole in the bridge. All of a sudden great big billy goat gruff shoved his head near his tummy. Middle sized billy goat and little billy goat said “a fight, a fight.” Middle sized billy goat said to little billy goat “I want to join in the fight.” Middle sized billy goat forgot about the humongous hole and fell into the troll’s house.  Middle size billy goat steeped on a button and a trapdoor opened.  Middle size billy goat inside the trapdoor .The steep crumbled into hidden guns.

‘yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy’

A vine with a net on it came rushing down.  It cohort the guns and middle size billy goat fell into the net and got pulled up .When middle size billy goat was on land again he reached into the net and pulled out a rifle got out of the trolls house and shot the troll  and that was the end of that troll .Then the three billy goats tuck some grass with them.  When the three billy goats got up to the top they saw baby Trolls in the middle of the mountain and then they said ‘here we go again‘.

The Jade Dragon Mystery

A little girl named Mi Rou, or Mi for short. Was as pretty as can be and loved things that were not caught. Mi was tidy and looked resplendent in her robes of silk. She was healthy too; every day she had a glass of milk. One day when she was feeling extraordinarily fine, She asked her mum: “I saw a jade charm, and I want it to be mine. What can I do! What can I do! It probably already has been sold, To a one who doesn’t even want it, she definitely wanted gold!” “But gold, gold, gold I must not buy. Give it to me, well jade needs to be mine!” And that was when poor Mi burst into tears; Her mum got a towel and wiped all her fears. “It’s ok darling, I will get it tonight. Tell me what it is, and what did it look like?” Mi’s mum got the jade And gave it to Mi before she went in a daze. Mi put the dragon beside her bed, Before she got to sleep she said: “Little Dragon. How sweet you are. I will call you Lung and Lung you are.” The next morning Miss Mi screamed As half her bed was completely on a lean. She turned to the dragon, the dragon was still But Mi knew the dragon might be evil. She packed her bags and went to school, Not forgetting to brush her hair or brush her teeth till they’re as clear as a pool. Its ok I know what I’m doing, I shouldn’t take the dragon to school. I know that’s the right thing to do, as I am omniscient, As omniscient as an owl-singing hoot. Another disaster! How can this be! Mi’s bedroom was covered in peas. “YUCK! YUCK! Peas are gross! I hate them. Dislike them the most!” The dragon was in the same, very same, same spot. Was there anything that Mi forgot? “I locked it up but always the same! Always a disaster! Always the same!” Mi had kicked it, punched it and bashed it all up. Weren’t dragons good luck? One day, when Mi was fast asleep, A gargantuan animal was trying not to step on her feet. “Dragons are smart, dragons are great, But this one is angry, for what Mi has done late,” The animal sang. Mi sprung up with a start. That scared her heart! “Who! Who! Who is there! Is someone trying to grab my hair?” “No I am not. I am trying to teach you a lesson. A lesson for a lesson that Miss Mi has not yet learnt. A lesson that teaches a lesson about dragons and jade. A lesson that is a lesson from O mighty Lung the great!” “Well get on with it. I am ecstatic to get to sleep!” Mi replied, her voice full of heat. “Miss Mi has learnt not yet, that hurting jade turns luck around And thinking gold not better than jade, That just turns my luck upside down.” The dragon’s voice was so calm and sweet. So soporific if you ever meet him. Just really, don’t try to beat him. “I…I do not understand. You put the peas in my floor …because…my heart was as stale as the floor?” “Yes Miss.  Almost exactly correct. You were rude to me and showed a lack of respect.” “But with the gold?” “Jade is no better than gold. You must understand, gold is as good as mould.” The dragon chuckled as Miss Mi understood almost nothing. “Err…but mould is useless.” “Yes it may seem but do you understand, Gold is a material, it is like land.” “So gold is like mould…” Mi said aloud. “Yes, yes it is mould just grander and greater. The same with jade, the grass and the mountains. They do seem greater.” The dragon said, Almost bumping the roof on his head. “They are all just mould but some shinier and special. You are just jade but I like you. I will wear you as a necklace, O mighty Lung if you will.” Now Mi understood, that metal was just metal But they all had different specials for example a kettle. Whatever Mi had, whether it was elastic Or plastic Mi knew that is worth to her as much as gold And that feeling will never grow old. Mi wore O mighty Lung to school each day And sometimes the kids just might say: “Mi! You have got lucky! Getting all your exams right! ‘ Is it that dragon? I thought he was just a fright.” By Gabby

Our City Excursion

On Tuesday we went to the city.  We saw the Yarra River.  I was walking on the Princess Bridge with my grade.  We saw the water.  We went to the Shrine and we went to the top of the Shrine.  We saw the flame.  St.Paul's Cathedral was cool.  I loved it.  It had the glass in the windows.  It was coloured.  We went to the bus and we went to school.  I had a fun day.

The Scuba Diver

Bip, Bip, Bip, Bip Georgia’s alarm clock went off. In a hurry Georgia had to leave for New Zealand at 1:00. Soon Georgia was in the ocean and swimming for fish. Georgia saw a shark coming along. The shark was  swimming faster and faster." OH NO the shark is coming so close to me and it is going to eat me all up! AUH AUH the female shark is coming so close to me….. and going to eat me as well."  In her panic Georgia yutned around and could see a  boat coming along to bump the shark with it's propeller. Great, Great, Great, Great, she thought to herself.  Not again the female is coming after the male shark  and going to bump into the propeller.Georgia was so relieved to have survived her scary journey.

The Little Bird

The little bird looked up at her mother. She gave a little nod, to approve of the little bird's actions. Trembeling with fear, the little bird expanded her blue wings, ready to fly. It cant be that hard, she thought, Lilly could do it easily. But then again, Maisy couldn't. as though mother read the little bird's mind, she responded. "Little bird, Maisy was an emu. Lilly was a kookaburra. You are a bluebird." she said in her soft, calming voice. "bluebirds are......are they meant to fly?" the little bird asked. "yes, and very well. Now, off you go." the little bird strechted her wings out more confidently. She took one foot off the ground, then another, and went soaring into the sky. It was the most wonderful feeling she had had. She felt free, alive, all her worries had gone, if only she could stay up forever. But no, the little bird's wings were tiring, she had to stop. The next thing she knew, she was stalling. Falling like a crashed plane, like an emu. The little bird's mother caught the little bird. "was that meant to happen, mother?" "Yes darling, like humans riding bycicles." Gabby G

The Medal

I am backstage at a dancing concert and it is almost my turn to go on stage. I am feeling excited and happy. Finally it is my turn on stage. I walk through two doors, through a big hallway and onto the stage.  I am starting my jazz dance. I have been doing it for years. Soon it is the end of the concert and I win a medal.
