Hi there! Thanks so much for inviting on your blog. What a great idea to have a blog for young writers. When I was growing up we didn't have blogs – we didn't even have computers! Can you imagine that? Yep, that was the olden days, where I rode around in a horse and cart (no, not really – we had cars by then) and everything I wrote was by hand. Sometimes I still prefer to write my stories by hand. I always carry a notebook with me because you never know when a good idea is going to come to you. My notebooks are full of ideas: things I remember from my childhood, drawings, snippets of conversations I may have heard, even cuttings from newspapers and magazines that interest me. Sometimes I might even begin a story in my notebook, then when I feel it begin to take shape, I'll begin to type it out on my computer. A notebook is a great place to practice your writing. Because, like everything, if you want to be good at something, what do you have to do? Yep, that's right – practice! Imagine if you were a runner and you turned up on race day to run your 100 metre sprint without having done any practice. You wouldn't do your best run, would you? Well, writing is just the same. The more you practice in your notebook, the more likely it is that when you do finally sit down at the computer, the ideas will flow. The more you write, the better you get at writing. Good luck! And have fun.

Best wishes,

A Narrow Escape - A Willow and Ginger Story (number 4)

Snoring was to be heard from a particular part of the house. "Ahhhcho!" sneezed Ginger and the startled Willow jumped in surprise from the sudden noise. "What a bad start to the day" Willow whined angrily, "I....." Ginger stopped. A pair of green eyes were gazing at him. "Eeek!" he squealed and buried himself in the hay, afraid to look at the green eyes. "Yowl" yowled the eyes and the creature's black fur gleamed in the moonlight. "The scientist next door's cat!" screamed Willow fleeing upstairs. "We've got to do something" cried Willow deserately, pacing the hutch three days later. "What?" "There is only one answer" replied Ginger solemly. "We've got to run away". "If that's the only choice", sighed Willow "We will. Let's do it tonight". Darkness was falling over the hutch as the new hole in the garden was almost completed. "Ow" Willow whispered. "Sorry" mumbled Ginger. "Look!" exclaimed Willow excitedly "A book on hypnotising". "Do you know what this means?" Cried Ginger. "We can hypnotise the cat". Two minutes went by with the bunnies practising and it took another two minutes to get the cat who was hunting for spiders. Soon enough there was a truly amazing sight. There was a flash of green and the rustling of leaves as the cat disappeared through a hole in the fence. "Hooray!", the brothers cried. Songs drifted into the night led by two bunnies who were unaware of what tricks the mad scientist had up his sleeve and what trouble he would lead them into the next day.
