Hi there! Thanks so much for inviting on your blog. What a great idea to have a blog for young writers. When I was growing up we didn't have blogs – we didn't even have computers! Can you imagine that? Yep, that was the olden days, where I rode around in a horse and cart (no, not really – we had cars by then) and everything I wrote was by hand. Sometimes I still prefer to write my stories by hand. I always carry a notebook with me because you never know when a good idea is going to come to you. My notebooks are full of ideas: things I remember from my childhood, drawings, snippets of conversations I may have heard, even cuttings from newspapers and magazines that interest me. Sometimes I might even begin a story in my notebook, then when I feel it begin to take shape, I'll begin to type it out on my computer. A notebook is a great place to practice your writing. Because, like everything, if you want to be good at something, what do you have to do? Yep, that's right – practice! Imagine if you were a runner and you turned up on race day to run your 100 metre sprint without having done any practice. You wouldn't do your best run, would you? Well, writing is just the same. The more you practice in your notebook, the more likely it is that when you do finally sit down at the computer, the ideas will flow. The more you write, the better you get at writing. Good luck! And have fun.

Best wishes,

Nature Poem

Leaves rustling
Birds singing songs as sweet as honey
Dry sap the colour of ruby encrusted on trees
Cloudless sky the colour of cornflour
Busy bees with yellow stripes as bright as the sun
Lush green grass dotted with snow white daisies
Magnificent bushes speckled with berries as black as night
Leaves the colour of emerald with tiny rain drops clinging to them

On Tuesday went on an EXCURSION TO THE CITY!! We got on the bus and drove into Tuesday we the 1/2’s the city. While we were driving we saw the MCG, Fed square and the Art Centre and the spier. We got out of the bus got in our lines. We were walking for ages till we got to the Art Centre we walked in side. The first thing we saw was a piano. Ronin touched it but he didn’t get in to trouble we went upstairs we saw a piece of art work it was very boring. Next we went to Flinders Street Station. There were 8 little clocks and 2 big clocks. We went to St Pulse Cathedral. We saw the stain glass windows and the big organ pipes. We saw a priest there we tried to ignore him but someone was making too much noise which distracted the priest so we left and had brain food and then we went to fed square and the little play ground on the other side. Then we saw these green egg things where you could play games on it. That day was very exiting but it’s over now . I had a very good day.

Cheetahs are the best animal!

Cheetahs are the best animal because they run really fast. Cheetahs are the fastest animal on land because their strong legs and tail helps them balance.

Another reason I believe cheetahs are the best animal is because they have really pretty coats. Their dark spots and their sandy coloured fur can mean that they can camouflage into the African plains.

For these two reasons I believe that cheetahs are DEFINITELY the best animal EVER.

I disagree with you becuase Dolphins are fast as well.  I believe dolphins are the best becuase they can do tricks out of the water when they are coming up to breathe.  Abigail M

Christmas Morning

On Christmas morning I saw the gorgeous Christmas wrapping off the Christmas presents.  I was fossicking through to look for my presents.  It was early in the morning I am starving to have breakfast.  I was so excited to look in my stocking.

Scuba Diving for sea shells

On a sunny afternoon a fantastic diver called Sercan went in the water looking for seashells.  Suddenly an enormous shark cam and bit him on his leg.  Moments later a hook came but it was a boat....The hook lifted Sercan up and he found lots of seashells.

Naughty Cat

Oscar is a beautiful grey old cat.  He walks with pride and grace like he is performing in a ballet show.  He likes bouncy balls and playing with string.  He also plays in the washing.  Sometime Oscar is naughty.  When you're doing your homework he jumps onto the sheet and then goes to sleep.

Poppy

Meow I heard my cat poppy call from the bedroom.  My cat is cute. She plays with me everyday.  My cat has brown eyes and she chases her tail.

Abandon

The old barn had a rusty old chain.  The wind blew in a corner.  There was an abandoned tractor and thousands of cobwebs.

SHARK ATTACK

It was a beautiful day for Zac to go scuba diving.  Just then when Zac jumped in the water he saw a grey and white shark. He screamed,  "SHARK ATTACK!"  After that the boat saw Zac getting attacked by the shark and the boat saved Zac.

Alice and the purple platypus

Deep in the heart of the forest there was a young girl called Alice and she met a purple platypus.  She followed the platypus.  Meanwhile he made a trap.  Then Alice fell in the trap.  In the trap there was gooey stuff and then she found a cave.  In the cave there was a bear.  The bear came closer and closer to Alice. The purple platypus made the bear turn into a mouse and the purple platypus become friends with Alice.  They decided to go back into the heart of the forest.
